The Movie, In Book Form. How Novel!

There are literally thousands of photos in this book taken directly frame by frame from the original ALIEN movie, better than a pause button you get to relive the story, but also examine in detail the incredible sets, costume's, special effects, and more, you even get to examine some of the very rapid scenes, some of which are only on screen for a few seconds.
As a visual record of the movie it's really second-to-none, it does have some text, mainly the dialogue, and here and there some descriptions of what's happening in the scene, but done in the way of a novel.
If you have other ALIEN related books in your collection then well worth adding this one to it.

Rare book! Must read for all Alien fans.

I have purchased a couple books from the Alien and Prometheus lore recently and on one of the reviews for another book I purchased, a reviewer mentioned something about a photo-novel based off of the first film that he purchased back in the late 70s or early 80s around the release of Alien. That immediately piqued my interest, as I have several photo novels in my library (Star Wars, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, etc.) So I found this listing, which does little by the way of describe what the book is via title-- I must have overlooked it in all of my years as a customer here! I found a cheap copy in very good condition and I am very glad that I did!
Okay, as far as the book itself. The basic premise is that the whole entire 1979 Ridley Scott original Alien movie has been turned into a book. A book of photographs and stills directly from the frames of the film. I imagine the team at Creative Assembly has many copies of this book lying around their studio while they make Alien Isolation. The book is amazing, it's perfect. There are literally thousands of frames from the movie and each one is accompanied by dialogue of characters or a description of events during the film. It is very high quality (the age of the film and how it was shot notwithstanding) and the amount of detail is astounding-- I have seen the original film many times, I had it on VHS many moons ago and now own it on DVD and Blu-Ray, but it wasn't until reading this photo novel that I noticed certain things, such as the text on some of the computer readouts, some of the Japanese lettering scattered about the ship, as well as the detail of the Alien's skull appearing human (Though most true fans know the original action figure had a detachable skull plate.) It is really a cool piece of Alien history to own, for sure. If you can find a copy cheap, do yourself a favor and buy it!

Pros: This is a really cool, collectible item for fans of the series. Nice little gem!
Cons: My only gripe is that it's based off of the original cut of the film, there are no extended scenes or deleted scenes as in the Director's Cut that would come to surface years later. Otherwise it is perfect.

Eeeewwwww, what's the gooo?!?

This book is awesome! A must have for any "Alien" fan. If you love the movie, then you should enjoy this novelization of the film. Contains more pictures than the Holy Bible contains words. I'm cereal! If you are tired of pausing and slow-forwarding/backwarding through some of the brief scenes to catch what happened, then this is the book to get. A way to "study" the film in it's entirety - except it isn't the extended version of the film. Hey, I'm satisfied with what this contains anyway! Me being a huge fan of the franchise(except [3] and 4 - which were nightmares Ripley had while in hypersleep on way back to Earth in "Aliens" - not really, but that is how I see it to "deal with" the 3rd and 4th installments, durka durka..)... It's as if someone were there on the Nostromo taking pictures and this is their "photos book"............
