This is an excellent book for grievers who have lost a parent

Although it was written to help children when a parent dies, I cried all the way through it, even though it had been a number of years since my grandmother (who was a surrogate mother when I was little) had died. I think when a parent dies, we feel like children. It has specific suggestions on how to help actual children of differnt ages when their parents die. It explains how children think at different ages and why it's hepful to use different explanations at different ages.

I used this when she first published it. Excellent. I felt the way my family delt with me when I lost parent at 12 yo with never mentioning them ever again till I was 17 yo was not the way to help. This book agreed. I used it as hospital employee and personally and advocated it many times.
