Romance write Lindsey stays true to form?and formula?as she continues to chronicle the romantic entanglements of the Malory clan. Set in Regency England, sometime between 1811 and 1820, the latest Malory novel (after Love Me Forever) includes the three stock romantic figures: a Virgin, a Villain and a Rogue. The Virgin is Kelsey Langton, who willingly agrees to be auctioned off in a London whorehouse to pay her uncle's debts and ensure her younger sister a marriageable future. The Rogue is handsome Lord Derek Malory, who plunks down a fortune to make Kelsey his mistress rather than see her bought by the Villain, Lord David Ashford, an insane sadist who takes his sex with a healthy splash of blood. The implausible set-up quickly becomes ludicrous as Malory falls in love with Kelsey, but her unwillingness to reveal her true background prevents a wedding. Malory's ardor for Kelsey is inflamed when Ashford kidnaps her, necessitating a heroic rescue in a grisly dungeon where Kelsey is on the verge of being whipped and mutilated for Ashford's pleasure. In the end, family secrets fall from both the Malory and Langton family trees like rotten apples while social conventions are swept aside. Scant historical detail and 20th-century dialogue make this unfortunate novel even more far-fetched. (Nov.) republish the four previous Malory novels.

Lindsey returns to Regency England and the lives of her notorious Malory family with her latest novel featuring Derek Malory. When young Derek ventures into a den of iniquity with his cousin, the last item he expects to acquire is a mistress. Yet acquire one he does, in the form of Kelsey Longton. Kelsey is being auctioned off to save her family from financial ruin when Derek steps in to save her from a sadistic buyer. Despite an unorthodox introduction, Derek falls in love with Kelsey. But how will the heir to the Malory title and fortune explain to his father that he loves his mistress and wants to marry her? Although this novel is not as strongly crafted as her previous best-seller, Love Me Forever , it nonetheless provides a unique twist to Regency romances. Libraries not already owning the four previous Malory novels will be able to purchase them during a promotional republication. Since all of Lindsey's previous novels have been New York Times best-sellers, plan for this one to hit the list also, and make it an essential purchase. Melanie Duncan

#5 of the Mallory Series
By J. Austin
Orphaned, Kelsey Langston and her young sister go to live with their aunt and uncle. One night, Kelsey finds her drunken uncle contemplating suicide. He his lost all of the family's money. He convinces Kelsey to sacrifice herself by becoming a rich man's mistress. For the love of her aunt and sister, Kelsey does. Derek Mallory notices an auction going on in one of the gentlemen's clubs he is visiting. A pretty, blushing girl is being auctioned off and the high bidder is Ashton, a known sadist. Unable to let the girl go to such a violent man, he bids on her and wins a mistress. But there is something about this young woman. Her speech and mannerisms are too fine. Surely she isn't a Lady. Derek soon realizes that he enjoys his mistress' company, but trouble is afoot. Ashton doesn't like losing to Derek. He intends to have Kelsey for himself. And he intends on punishing her for not belonging to him.
Kelsey is gentle, kind-hearted, resourceful, and charming. She is a very likable character and easily falls in love with Derek. Derek is protective, sexy, and caring. An absolute fantasy man. He and Kelsey sizzle together! A perhaps improbable story, but that is what it is. A tale of passion and love coming through. A wonderful addition to the Mallory books.

Love is a perilous and rewarding gamble . . .
By Amanda Carrell
_Say You Love Me_, the fifth book in the beloved Malory series, is the story of Derek Malory and Kelsey Langton. Though Derek has been a minor character in the background of the series, he definitely shines in this unique Regency romance.
Derek Malory, heir to the Marquis of Haverston, is following fast in the footsteps of his two rakehell uncles. Though more gentle and kindhearted in his love affairs, he is definitely a man interested in pleasure for pleasure's sake. Unlike other reviewers, I found it exhilarating to have a hero who wasn't an alpha male. Beyond popular belief, not all women are attracted to overbearing brutes and that's usually the type of hero you find in this genre. Derek Malory is a cut above the rest.
Kelsey Langton, though gently bred, must sell herself in a house of pleasure to save her family. Ignorant in the art of love, Kelsey is forced to act as mistress to the man who buys her. I was extremely impressed with Kelsey's character. She's strong, brave and self-sacrificing. In a genre full of selfish, conceited heroines Kelsey shines.
I've read numerous Regency-era romances, but _Say You Love Me_ is far from being a cardboard copy of the rest. The premise is interesting, the mystery intriguing and the love between Derek and Kelsey is sweet without being sugary. In fact, I found the entire book uniquely pleasurable -- I could scarcely make myself put it down.
_Say You Love Me_ would be an amazing story on its own, but it's even better as an addition to the Malory family saga. All of the previous characters are involved in the plot and help move the story along. As usual, their wit and charm make for an outstanding adventure.
Over the last 10 years I've come to expect great things from Ms. Lindsey and once again she's proven why that is. She creates memorable characters, puts them in fascinating situations and ties it all together with excitement, passion, romance and humor. I highly recommend this book to all fans of the Malory family.

Way better than the prequel, Man of My Dreams.
By Abbys
I enjoyed this book a lot more than the prequel, MAN OF MY DREAMS. Although this one is a bit on the light side compared to my other book readings, I enjoyed it nevertheless. The thing is, LOVE ME FOREVER has the usual plot of an impoverished hero seeking for a rich heiress to marry in order to save his clan... Since I've read many books with this familiar format, I didn't have that new excitement feelings while reading this book. In my opinion, Love Me Forever needs a bit more of wickedness to add sauciness to the overall story, a little bit of hard twist to add excitement and a little bit more of misunderstanding to add complexity to the relationship. However, Johanna Lindsey made it up by adding a touch of spunk & uniqueness on her well defined and utterly lovable characters. Lachlan and Kimberly are now in one of few favorite hero/heroine list of all times. They both have flaws physically which was a welcome change for me. They're both too tall for others yet perfectly fit for each other. I was also getting tired of dark, stuffy, brooding and overbearing heroes. Our Lachlan here is playful, a tease, charming and loving. He's a happy go lucky kindda guy. Mind u, he is all MANLY with a touch of arrogance but his boyish character is what drawned me more to him. There's also no denial for him, he knows what he wants and goes for it. He realized in the end that he was in love with Kimberly and accepted it so. He is direct yet perhaps a bit dense... MEN, what can I say? LOL. Now, our heroine, Kimberly is just as refreshing as Lachlan. She was not describe as overly beautiful nor was she attractively sought after like most heroine in other books. In fact, She was considered unnoticeable. She does have her own beauty though which people notices only after a time. Kindda like, Her beauty grows in you. She's quite & shy from time to time which I find fetching. She can be confident one minute then insecure next. She's more realistic, just like u and me. That's what made me like her all the more. Together, they made up for each other's weaknesses. He is handsome, she is regular. He is funny, she is serious. When one is too trustful, the other is wary. I say, they are truly for each other! As for their relationship, well...their love developed slowly yet surely. I liked that idea very much. This isn't a love at first sight thing, at least not for Lachlan, for he only have eyes for Megan. Ugh. Now, this is an added flutter to the plot. Since I've read MAN ON MY DREAMS, it was also good to see Megan and Devlin again. To read updates about the rest of the characters in MOMD was definitely a smiler. However, If u read my review on MOMD, the prequel for this book, you will see that I particularly didn't favor Megan and Devlin there... They're ok but not for me to liked them as I feel for Lachlan and Kimberly here in LMF. Especially after reading that harsh and low incident with Devlin and Lachlan (read to know what i mean), it was just so easy for me to dislike Devlin... UGH! Oh well, in the end, Ms. Lindsey did once again made up for that and made Devlin likable again. But I still like Lachlan best!
Despite its light-sided plot, Overall, this book is filled with humor and heart warming scenes you wouldn't want to miss.
