A Indispensible Dictionary for Language Learners

This, along with a lover who speaks the target language, is one of the truly indispensible tools of language learning. Language learners typically work their tails off learning new words only to to be laughed at when they misuse them. This dictionary goes the extra step and shows the sense of how words are used with generous, fully translated example sentences. Classroom teachers should acquire whole sets for daily use. Individuals should get a copy for frequent reference. You will never use a standard Spanish-English dictionary again.

one of the best.

A very very practical book that made you enjoy while learning Spanish. I never seen another dictionary better than this. I wish they had a CD of spoken spanish going with it. The reason I give a 4, because the paper turned yellow with time, so I have to set it aside from my other precious books. It's contagious, it's not acid-free, archival, a term they use in photography in conserving prints. By the way, I bought 4 of those books to use at home and in my offices.

most useful Spanish dictionary I know

I wish all foreign language dictionaries were as useful as this one. One of the biggest problems going between languages is that vocabulary words do not translate one-to-one and choosing the right word to convey the meaning intended can be very hit-or-miss. This dictionary, 536 pages long, gives you the information you need. For example, I counted 47 entries for the English word "make," including numerous idiomatic expressions. All have sample sentences so you can see the words in context, the prepositions that surround the verbs, etc. The book also has supplements on grammar, pronunciation, money, geography, road signs, foods, abbreviations, measurements, etc., for both languages. I have a Master's in Teaching English as a Foreign Language and a Ph.D. in Linguistics, and have experience working with dozens of languages (and their dictionaries). This is the best dictionary I have encountered.

Asimov, The Scientist and Historian For the Layman

I bought this book on a lark: Isaac Asimov the science fiction writer? A secular history of the bible? Riiight...

Actually, Asimov was a very accomplished scientist, philosopher, and writer of both fiction and non-fiction. His 2 volume book set on the Bible is, as he makes it clear from the start, NOT a criticism of the Bible nor is it new work. It is a scholarly exploration, chapter by chapter of the most up to date (at the time) understanding of the history of the Ancient Middle East and how that relates to the English language version(s) of the Bible.
Exquisite detail is used to identify, explain, and cross-reverence the empires, nations, battles, names, etc, necessary to make sense of these complex histories/stories. He swiftly sums up, without judging, several confusing differences in spelling and dynasty orders that clog up part of the OT. Dozens of maps help to make locations and relationships between nations much more clear. Even when he points out that a story cannot be historical, he does so with straightforward explanations and direct references to previous parts of the volume itself where they were discussed. Where appropriate he also compares different translations, book/chapter titles, and canon versions.

Personally, I found his exploration of the "apocrypha" most enlightening. He does not waste time on why something was included or not included by goes directly to whether it has anything to teach us about history or the societies that wrote it an criticized it.

Intelligent secular commentary on the Bible

Isaac Asimov may be best known for his extensive science fiction works, but he also wrote on many other subjects that drew his interest, and fortunately for us the Bible drew his interest. His commentaries analyze almost everything in the Bible that merits further attention, asking questions, re-evaluating meanings, discussing the context from many angles including historical, linguistic, archeological, and other scientific views. If you want a history of Alexander and the four generals that divided his empire or have questions on any "unsolved mysteries" from the Bible like the Star of Bethlehem or why various apochrypha (books like Enoch that were left out of the official Bible) were disputed, Asimov covers such topics. He does so in great detail, requiring two separate books on the Old and New Testaments of the Bible - but I am reviewing the pair as one because they go hand in hand and most readers interested in one will also want the other.

One item that really got my attention was his theory on Noah's Flood. On pages 40-42 of his Old Testament commentary, Asimov discusses the possibility that it was not all from rain: "There may have been a sudden rise in the water level of the Persian Gulf... It has occurred to me recently that a possible explanation for such an invasion of the sea would be the unlucky strike of a large meteorite in the nearly landlocked Persian Gulf..." He points out Genesis 7:11 notes that "'the fountains of the great deep [were] broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.' A tidal wave plus rain, in other words." Later he suggests: "The tradition that the ark came to rest in Ararat some six hundred miles northwest of Sumeria again speaks in favor of the tidal-wave theory of the Flood. Ordinary river flooding would sweep floating objects downstream - southeastward into the Persian Gulf. A huge tidal wave would sweep them upstream - northwestward towards Ararat." My copy of Asimov's book is from 1968. In 2006, the Holocene Impact Working Group announced their findings on Burckle Crater, a huge impact crater about 18 miles in diameter at the bottom of the Indian Ocean. They believe a huge meteorite or small comet crashed into the ocean approximately 4900 years ago, creating mega-tsunamis. When I read about that impact, I remembered what Asimov had written....

In his New Testament commentary, I found his section on Christmas quite informative. One easy way to tell that no one celebrated the birth of Jesus in late December until centuries had passed by is that all Hebrew holidays are based on a lunar calendar. This is why Passover, Hanukkah, and even Easter don't have a fixed date on our modern (solar) calendar. Roman holidays made use of the solar calendar used by Rome. Of course the Romans already had a holiday (several, actually) around the winter solstice in December, and as Christianity grew in numbers they simply claimed these holidays for Christ. "The mere fact that Christmas is celebrated on December 25 every year and that the date never varies on our calendar is enough to show that it was not established as a religious festival until after A.D. 300." (p. 272)

Countless Bible commentaries have been written by religious scholars. Asimov was not religious, just a very broadly educated, highly intelligent man who offers us a sensible, in-depth analysis of the entire Bible. I found it informative as a young man reading it long ago, and I found it useful when I read it again more recently, taking many notes while researching my own books on End Times prophecy: End Times and 2019: The End of the Mayan Calendar and the Countdown to Judgment Day and Antichrist 2016-2019: Mystery Babylon, Barack Obama & the Islamic Caliphate

I have been reading Dr. A's work for decades. I sincerely mourned his passing, and with that passing a mind that could have grasped some of the archaeological research bearing on the Bible in the last 25 years. But I hope he would also have taken advantage of other Bible related studies which blossomed in that same period.

The issue being that Dr. A's book is outdated and he's not here to fix it. In 1995 Ebla's archives were discovered. In 1992 Axel Olrik's seminal Principles of Oral Narrative Research was published in English for the first time. A little before that Ronald Whybray published Making of the Pentateuch. And the field of Oral Traditions study made great strides in those 25 years.

Since 1976, archaeology has new perspectives on some of the assertions in this book. Two of the Cities of the Plain have been identified in Ebla's archives, and their possible site has been located through satellite imagery and a dig shows they were destroyed before 2300 BCE. Archaeologists have determined that camels were domesticated about 2700 BCE instead of the date used to show that Avraham was invented during the monarchic period. Digs show that Pi-Tum had at best ambiguous signs of habitation during the reign of Ramses II, whom most people probably identify with the pharaoh of the Exodus. Pi-Tum was its name at the time of the Babylonian Captivity; it was inhabited during Hyksos times as was Avaris, later renamed for Ramses and now known as Tell El-Daba. Pi-Tum's modern name is Tell el-Maskhuta which corresponds amazingly to the Hebrew name given in the Bible: Sukkot.

These finds help up-end the Documentary Hypothesis (JEDP), a cornerstone of this book. It claims the Cities were invented and that most if not all of Judaism originated relatively late, such as right before or during the Babylonian Captivity.

As with archaeology, I have gone on and studied a number of fields including Sapir-Whorf Theory (linguistics) and oral traditions (particularly the translation of Axel Olrik's work). It wouldn't be enough for Dr. A to just update the archaeological information.

Work in oral traditions by Havelock, Ong, and Olrik provide a way to analyze the Jewish Bible that explains the presence of duplications and the so-called contradictions, and shows that the DH consists of special pleading and fails the test of Occam's Razor.

Sapir-Whorf Theory, which underlies the structure of every dictionary entry, conflicts with two of the five "pillars" of DH.

What DH considers composites cannot be deconstructed without either violating the grammar of Hebrew (Sapir-Whorf) or producing an incoherent plot (Olrik).

Further, Olrik shows that you don't invent a city called Sukkot associated with a seminal cultural event (the Exodus) at the same time as you invent the culture. Only much later do you have to explain its location to audiences by giving the modern name of the location, Pi-Tum. This indicates that since Sukkot seems to have had no substantial permanent inhabitants during the time of Ramses II, likely the Exodus predates him.

And finally Whybray shows that the problems DH has with archaeology and unreasonable assertions dates right back to Julius Wellhausen. His work even helped me identify downright fallacies (presentism, historian's fallacy, Texas Sharpshooter fallacy to name a few) in the DH.

I bought a copy of Dr. A's book as soon as I could afford it after getting my first job. It's still on my bookshelf. But now it's a signpost showing how far we've come since 1976, not a resource useful to what I have written since 2002 on the subject. Dr. A, I wish you were here!

Talbott's close textual and symbolic analysis reveals the fundamental themes of Saturn imagery and proves that all of them--including the "cosmic ship", the "island at the top of the world", the "eye of heaven" and "the revolving temple"--were based on celestial observations in the northern sky. foundations for a new comprehensive religious theory

Talbott has laid the cornerstone for a revolutionary and brilliant approach towards explaining mythology and ritual from a historical point of view. His work is clear and convincing, though several details cannot be maintained. Unlike Velikovsky's he works his ideas out in detail and opens the way for multitudes of new ideas. This book might even exceed Velikovsky's work in importance as it does certainly so in scope.

Origins of religion convincingly explained

This is not a quick read nor particularly well-written but it is a well-documented and an immensely powerful argument for the early gods of pre-history being cosmic entities that were in fact the planets. The world mountain, the cosmic tree and other mythological aspects are explained in scientific terms. Is Talbott correct? I am fairly sure he's on to something important. I know I can never view traditional astronomy or even the present concept of religion in the same light after spending time with this book. Too bad it's out of print but my library got me a copy.

Frank Defelitta wrote a good story on a holocaust survivor/mental patient on a killing spree to advenge the wrongs of the past. it has a good storyline and takes you into 1960's germany and Israel and you get a feeling of the time. The relationship between the detective and female holocaust survivor leaves the reader confused and disappointed. I still pull my copy out & read it every few years.

Queens of England is a biography of each Queen of England since Before Christ. Each biography is about 2 or 3 pages long, and is the best piece of condensed reference I have ever seen. It is also interesting reading with pictures of the Queens (their statues). I purchased my copy at a second hand bookstore and keep it for reference. Another good reference is "Anne Bolyen". I can't believe this is out of print.

I was 9 when I first found this book in the library and fell in love with it. Norah Lofts took history and biography and told the stories of England's queens with humor, wit and charm. I spent hours with this book and never forgot it. If you can find a used copy don't hesitate to buy it.

This book has beautiful pictures of the queens of England followed by beautiful factual discriptions of the women and their lives. It doesn't go much into gossip, it simply highlights the facts. This would be a great reference book for the library of an adult down to the library of an young adult in their early teens.

Intense! Perhaps not for everyone.

I am a big fan of Lawrence Block. I am a bit of an academic snob (i admit it), and i never used to go near mysteries. My grandparents gave me The Burglar Who Studied Spinoza (i work on Spinoza), and i have been hooked on mysteries (Lawrence Block in particular--and the Scudder books especially) ever since.

I believe that Dance at the Slaughterhouse is the most powerful and interesting of all of Block's work (with perhaps the exception of a few of the short stories). However, i should add that Dance is certainly not a book to everyone's tastes. It's quite intense.

One aspect of Block's career that i appreciate is the diversity of his talents. The Burglar mysteries and the Tanner mysteries in particular are entertaining in the extreme. The Burglar books fascinate me because of their literary references; the Tanner books because of their political insights. But the Scudder books fascinate me because of their insights about the character of human beings. Consequently, they are often a bit more emotinoally taxing on the reader.

In Dance, Block plumbs the depths to get at some of the complicated relationships between human desire and drives towards violence toward the self as well as against others (and, not incidentally, also to get at the complicated structure that involves the tensions between love and violence as contrary expressions of desire). There's a hard-edge to this work as a consequence.

So while i highly recommend this book, i do so with the qualification that some of Block's other works might be more suitable to some readers (and even most of the other Scudder mysteries are less challenging).

Scudder Gets Ugly

Lawrence Block's Matthew Scudder series is one of the absolute best P.I. Fiction series out there. He is one of the few that can be compared with the great Raymond Chandler's Phillip Marlowe. And "Dance at the Slaughterhouse" is one of the best and is certainly the most grusome entry in the entire series. Death has always been a preoccupation in the Scudder novels. In New York City, death seems to be Scudder's constant companion as he struggles to remain alcohol free and to keep his life on track. Here he begin two seemingly unconnected cases and follows their meandering leads until they start to connect in some brutally ugly ways. Scudder has come into possession of a genuine snuff film, and he can't get it out of his mind. Ultimately, he encounters a world of sex deviants and children who sell their bodies. Along the way, recurring characters such as gangster Mickey Ballou, call girl Elaine and ex-pimp Chance provide plenty of color.
Block's Scudder series is almost unique among P.I. fiction in that it is able to maintain its edge even as its hero goes through significant life changes. His continuing battle with the bottle provides an added tension that stays in the background like a predator ready to pounce. Overall, this is one of the best Scudder novels and a must read for P.I. fiction fans.

Best noir writer working today!

I'd never heard of Lawrence Block until I read one of his short stories, "The Merciful Angel of Death" in THE NEW MYSTERY anthology, edited by Jerome Charyn. I liked the story so much that I was thrilled to find he also wrote novels, which led to A DANCE AT THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE and Matt Scudder. Since then I've read all of the Scudder mysteries and buy the newest one as soon as I hear about it.
So what's so good about Scudder? He's a great character for one thing. He's a recovering alcoholic, a detective without a license, a former cop who left his wife and kids. And he's got some of the seediest friends you'll ever meet. An albino pimp. Mick Ballou, a bar owner who kills people. A high-classed prostitute girlfriend. Then there's T.J., his street-smart partner with a facility for computers.
Scudder walks or takes the subway wherever he goes. He putters around, drinking coffee, going to AA meetings, donating money to the church (any church) when he gets paid for a case. He never seems to make any progress, but his perambulations give us a chance to see New York. Then he finds a tiny thread here, another there, and before we know he's cooking with gas.
In A DANCE AT THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE Scudder takes on the Amanda Thurman murder case. After attending a small dinner party on Central Park West, Richard and Amanda Thurman return to their brownstone on West Fifty-second Street, only to be confronted by burglars who draw guns and herd them into their apartment. They steal his watch, wallet, and Amanda's jewelry, beat Richard, tie him up and tape his mouth; then they rape his wife in front of him. Richard manages to knock the phone off the table, free the tape from his mouth, and call 911. But his wife is dead. The dead woman's brother doesn't believe Richard's story and he hires Scudder to prove Thurman murdered his sister. Scudder's investigation takes us on a journey through New York's "snuff" film, sex-for-sale underworld.
Lawrence Block learned his craft writing for the pulp magazines, and you sure can tell. Who else can make a reformed alcoholic, and wife deserter into a likable character?

With uninspired plotting, Furst makes disappointing use of a vividly evoked wartime Paris in his latest WWII espionage novel (The Polish Officer; Dark Star; Night Soldiers). Hedonistic Parisian film producer Jean Casson thrives in Paris's active film industry, enjoying the colorful social scene, the posh restaurants and the beautiful, available women. But this world he knows so well all but disappears when Germans march into France and seize the city. At first, Casson strives merely to survive, but he's soon drawn into duty as an amateur intelligence operative and finds himself in a precarious position, buffeted by British Intelligence, resistance forces and the Gestapo. In the process, Casson discovers two powerful forces within himself?his patriotism and his consuming passion for an old lover, the beautiful actress Citrine. Furst brings this fascinating, historic Paris to life with his usual masterful use of period detail. But while Casson makes an intriguing protagonist, his relationships with other characters are presented rather schematically?in particular, his affair with Citrine, which ultimately proves so influential, is never satisfactorily developed. More importantly, Casson's career as a spy, marked by mixed success on missions that seem insignificant, is anticlimactic and a bit confusing. In the end, the novel never attains the dramatic pitch of Furst's recent The Polish Officer.

Jean-Claude Casson lives a hedonistic Paris existence as a low-budget film producer until the Germans invade France in 1940. Casson's need to continue working almost leads him into collaborating with the enemy. He is saved, temporarily, by the intervention of a group he thinks is British intelligence. He decides to work for the French Resistance only to have the Gestapo try to coerce him into betraying them. Furst, who has written several other World War II espionage tales, masterfully conveys a sense of daily life in occupied Paris, where even finding a newspaper was an ordeal. While the atmosphere is strong, Furst's storytelling skills are weak, shifting uneasily among the novel's many strands without always making the connections necessary for following the convoluted, often arbitrary, developments. The author also spends too much time on the producer's complicated love life, though he paints a vivid picture of the casualness of sexual relations in wartime. Stephen Thorne reads with a genteel English accent when a more earthy narration is called for. Recommended only for collections where Furst's works are popular.AMichael Adams, CUNY Graduate Ctr.

A Solid Novel, but not Furst's Greatest

For the first time in his well crafted series of espionage novels set amid the interwar years and opening acts of WW2 taking place in Eastern Europe, Furst departs from his usual stomping grounds in "The World at Night". Firstly, the story takes place in France, and its main character, Jean Casson, is French. Secondly, the timeline is from the invasion of France into World War 2- often occurring only in the final chapters of Furst's other novels.

His accomplishment is varied in its quality; at first I was not so interested in reading this book because the originality of his others seemed to be replaced by a run-of-the-mill WW2 spy novel. However, Jean Casson holds his own as an interesting and conflicted protagonist. As he converts his skills in media production to resisting Nazi rule, Casson is torn between the life of affluence he knew, and the desire to fight for the memory of France that seems to be fading all around him. Additionally, Casson's love interest adds another layer of complexity to the story.

"The World at Night" has an ending that left me waiting for more, and a little unsatisfied, which is my biggest critique of the story. I think Furst himself must have realized this, and he returns to Jean Casson's plight in the only direct sequel he has written to date (April, 2006), and the continues the tale in "Red Gold".

Although this novel can easily be read as a stand-alone book, some readers will enjoy beginning their foray into Furst's world with "Night Soldiers", his original and possibly best spy novel. This book introduces several characters who make appearances throughout Furst's other novels set in the same period of time and general geographical local. Because of this fact, I highly recommend reading "Night Soldiers" first, although those that follow can typically be read in any particular order (the exception being the stories involving Jean Casson - World at Night and Red Gold).

What makes Furst's loosely structured series so compelling is that 1; they are very well researched and historical very accurate, especially with regard to spy craft - as I understand it through academic experience only. 2; the characters are extremely flawed, very believable and interesting to empathize with - all of the characters and their adventures provoke much thought. 3; the novels do not attempt to achieve a false sense of conclusion at their end - they always allow the reader to decide for him/herself what happens, and they rarely resolve the feeling of tension that pervades Furst's works. 4; the secondary characters are always very well developed and much more interesting than their sometimes small roles would have the reader believe- so one is always off balance (who will live, who will die - who can be trusted, who cannot?). 5; Furst does an excellent job of setting the atmosphere of terror that resulted from the conflict between fascism and the resistance in France during the Second World War.

You cannot go wrong with this novel. While not Furst's best spy novel, for anyone interested in reading and enjoying spy stories, or stories of world war two, this book is a must read.

Furst - an author of "resistence stories"

I am interested in this period of history and Furst seems to be knowledgeable. He writes with a rather laid back style, which does not necessarily create a great amount of suspense and angst. I would say that the author is more interested in a realism in mood and fidelity in story and actions, than in the high suspense of a historical thriller. Still, with my personal interest in this period of history, Furst books are probably more accurate and historically faithful, than books where the point is high dramatic suspense.

In my very enjoyable search so far, I have yet to find less than five. The slowly terrifying atmosphere of Europe in the '30's (why do we love it so?), the breathtaking near escapes, the world-weary characters (ourselves in clever guise), perfectly timed for this election year....

Various Reviews for AP Chem books

So, being this the first year I took AP courses, I went a little over zealous and purchased 3 AP Chem books. Furthermore, a friend lent me another, and I skimmed through a few more. Let me say right out I got a 4. I was a bit disappointed, but I know I should have started studying harder and more rigorously. Even so, I believe that this book (Princeton's) positively contributed to my score.

Princeton Review
If you purchase only one review book, this is definately the one to get. This was the only one I really read through. The content was worthwhile, not too long, and fairly easy to read. I did most of the questions at the end of the chapters, but only took a quick look at the MC and Free Response questions at back of the book. I was a bit pressed for time. I finished reading the book the day right before the AP test. Really bad, I know. However, I had been preparing for a few weeks by doing old AP tests and tons and tons of old FR questions. I did almost all of the FR's on collegeboard' website. This book is definately not enough to get a 5, or even a four on. You should definately get a hold of old tests and do them! Also, try to keep up with the text book during the year to make sure you at least have some idea of what's going on. With that said, I can add one more high point of this book... the REACTIONS SECTION. The best I've seen. Very thorough, and much better than the other books. There are a few more rules than those in the books though, so make sure you ask a teacher or do enough to recognize patterns.

Barrons
This is definately one of the worse ones out of the lot. (Second worse.) I had read AP Euro review books before(since the test was a few days before) and was in the process of reading Princeton's chem book. How is this relavent you ask? Well, I've heard that some review books are notorious for huge, massive errors. I had personally never experienced this before and didn't notice any in the ones I had already read. Then there was the Barron's book. I looked at a few pages, and knew this was not worth the time. Specifically, I looked at the reactions questions at the end of the book. Some of the answers were WRONG! Very discouraging and wasted my time. Don't even bother with this book.

REA
The absolute worst one out of all of them. A friend lent this to me since she had it laying around. Please note that this book was from a couple years back (though review books don't change too much). I read about 1/4 of the book. Waste of time. Hard to read, wierd diagrams, doesn't contain what's need for the test. Really makes me leary from buying more of their review books in the future.

Kaplan
One of the better ones. The periodicity section in particular stands out. It was well written. I did not read this as I had absolutely no time, but it looks like a good, reliable, review. Seems a lot thicker than Princeton's, but would probably be more thorough. The reactions section though is definately inferrior.
This would be a good backup/ supplement to Princeton's version. Now I wish I did not procrastinate and instead spent time reading Kaplan's review.

Petersons
I did not have personal experience, but a friend owned this review guide. I did however have a brief skim through it. Every thing looked correct, and I liked the format and tone. It reminded me of Kaplan's (around the same thickness too), and my friend expressed that this was quality. There weren't any reviews for this on Amazon, so unfortunately, I did not get this.

All in all, I think I scored a solid 4 and not a 5 just because of the tricky multiple choice (I should have spread my time more evenly, but I did finish). And some dues go to my crazy chem teacher. He expected us to learn the material from reading just the really, really long text books and doing questions in the back. Most people didn't, and he often said he knew most of us would not pass. He gave a few lectures and stuff but not too indepth. I never comprehended the labs we did, but luckily there weren't specific questions on them. Also he said that some sections, like organic chemistry, weren't on the test. Except they were, and it wasn't just one question. Maybe if I had spent time doing the Princeton Reviews 2 tests, and reading through it again I could have gotten a 5.

A VERY worthwhile study tool

This book definitely saved my life. I was expecting barely a 3 on the exam; I got a 5, almost 95% due to buying this book. With barely a month left before the exam, with a teacher who had never taught the class before and an absolutely AWFUL, overcomplicated textbook, I bought this book and began looking through its sample questions and reading its review.

Not only did the review contain information that showed up directly on the exam, the sample questions were formatted in nearly exactly the same way.

My recommendation- DEFINITELY get this book, then study like mad. Do as many problems as you possibly can, and make sure to read over the explanations, since they REALLY help.

Excellent Preparation Guide

This book is an excellent preparation guide for the AP chemistry exam, it includes hundreds of practice AP questions similar to the national exam itself. It is a quick read if you are preparing late for the exam and has a very organized and user friendly format dividing the sections in to the main concepts covered by the AP exam and offerring excellent preparation questions in those areas. The difficulty level of the questions however is open to discussion as some questions in the book are slightly less difficult or complex as the questions asked on the actual national exam, however the majority are equivalent in difficulty to the exam. As for the free response section of the exam, this book provides excellent sample essay questions very similar to the exam in its intricacies and meticulous detailing of the questions forcing one to think deeply in to an answer. The book however does not provide answers that explain the answer to the question in great depth however with the information provided by the answer, one who is knowledged in chemistry can conclude what a proper AP exam answer would read. A main dividing factor between the free response section of exams in this book and of the real exam is that the real exam's "equilibrium problem" has many more parts to complete than that of the samples. The samples provide only 4 or 5 parts to the mathematical problems, whereas on the exam you can expect to find problems with 7 to 8 parts, and some of the types of questions encountered in the 4 extra parts are never discussed in this book. The exam takes the mathematical questions to a higher level than this book and requires one to analyze further the situation of a problem and provide further calculations to demonstrate understanding, this princeton review book does not discuss this. However, all together this book has great value and i highly reccomend it for any brave enough to challenge the AP chemistry exam, it is an essential material for its practice questions and was a cornerstone for me to score my 5 on the AP chemistry national exam. My advice to those aspiring AP chemistry exammers is to buy as many books with practice exams as you can and take as many full length exams as possible, they are the most helpful tool that you can find, and the princeton review offers this exceptionally.
